"I remember it hurt, looking at her hurt"
I already found myself fixating on something that is fake.
This film was a whole new kind of rom com, I discovered pain, hurt, emotion, whilst laughing. Josh Boone took something so cliche and made it so loveable. Yes, it had the usual story line. Divorced parents, ones not over the other, one of the kids hates one of their parents the other one doesn't. The 'looser' of a son gets his true love and the other finds true love after she thought she never could. But...it's phenomenal.
Rusty and Kate.
Teenage love is hard, we all know that. But it's not just the story of Rusty having sex and finally been happy. It shows that even the prettiest of them all, the most popular girl(s) have problems. Kate? She's a drug addict, border line alcoholic and she's only 16. Rusty discovers that even something that wasn't Kate's fault made his first love shatter, he experienced heart break; for the first time in his life.
Samantha and Lou
Sam never got that one night out of her head.
Her mum leaving her...
"And I remember Martin saying, what about Bill? What if Bill see's? And my mom replied, I don't care...I don't care"
Sam puts up this barrier, this wall , covers her hurt. She doesn't want to feel hurt or pain, she wants to feel numb to it. She only finds 'love' will burn down her wall and make the pain come back. Relationships, trust? No, she never wants that. But Lou, he teaches her that it's ok to hurt, to feel.
She doesn't want to have these feelings, she's never let anyone in.
There is a part in the movie where Lou plays Sam his favourite song, (Elliot Smith- Between The Bars) Sam closes her eyes. You can see how this scares her so much.
"I'm so scared right now"
"I know, I know"
"I don't wanna get hurt"
"I'm not gonna hurt you"
I've never seen someone, so tightly packed and uncomfortable about 'love'. She is so 'stuck in love' she feels like love is a trap, that it only sets you up for hurt and betrayal.
I love that even though like any other cliche rom com, they fall in love, she doesn't just 'fall in love', she shows us that it's ok to love and even though she got damaged, there is hope.
'Lou's wasn't like the rest'. He didn't give up, he felt so intrigued by how someone so young could feel such hatred towards love. Samantha writes a book called 'Under the Pink', Lou questions whether her attitude towards love and marriage is just for the book, or really has an impact on how she is towards love. Sam seems driven towards Lou, only to find that Lou's mum is dying of a brain tumour.
Lou goes behind Sam's back and invites Sam's mother to her book signing of 'Under the Pink'. She obviously hates him for it, ending their relationship. I find the strongest yet emotional part of the film is when his Lou's mum dies. It's such a powerful part of the film.
(Lou's mum dies)
Erica and Bill
Sam despises her mum for leaving, but Bill did the same when Sam was younger. And Erica(Sam and Rusty's mum) said to Bill...
"If I ever do anything as stupid as that, wait for me"
3 years later and he was still waiting for her.
Thanks Giving, Erica comes back. Sam's wall gets put down and her emotions crawl in.
I loved the film, I thought it was inspiring, it made me see things very clear. It showed me that even if you have been hurt, good does come of it. And you might be confused, but life is about taking that huge step and been uncomfortable, it's ok to be scared of love and it's most definitely acceptable to be stuck in it.

So many things in the world, and we have to limit them to have 'favourites'. Here are some of my October favourites!
First, my bath and body works candle! It is only a small one, but it is such a divine scent! I'm not too sure about sweet scented candles- but the spice candles are definitely a YES!
'Farmstand Apple' is definitely one of my favourites candles I have ever owned! It smells really strong in the candle itself but the smell is much more diluted when you burn it!
(Shame I've nearly used it all!)
I have always loved jewellery, but except from the odd few rings or necklaces from the high street- I prefer more expensive jewellery, as it lasts much longer and has a better quality! My mum and her boyfriend recently went to Las Vegas, and as one of my 'treats' I got a Michael Kors bracelet! It is very wearable, and goes with pretty much anything! Seen as it's silver, I wouldn't advise to pair it with a gold watch, BUT... it wouldn't look 'bad' with a gold watch- just a personal opinion!
(The leather straps adjust to fit your
Unfortunately, I wasn't born with unbelievably amazing cheekbones, I have (unfortunely- very unfortunely) a bit of a chubby face. But with the power of bronzer and this PHENOMENAL makeup brush. I can contour my cheeks, making me look like a part of the Kardashians family!
I can only thank Sam Chapman for creating the amazing brushes and Tanya Burr, for convincing me to buy the brushes over her YouTube channel!(maybe a few too many)
I wasn't blessed with unbelievably clear skin. I've suffered with mild acne, and tried so many creams. But seen as I have uncontrollable dry skin, the creams would dry my skin out! So with the power of products like, Liz Earle, my skin has improved a lot! Lately my skin hasn't been at it's greatest- but I have been recently using a range called 'Temple Spa' which isn't the cheapest, but the products don't half make a difference to your skin.
I found that they have an instant effect on the skin, which is very reassuring! (I will do a full blog post and review the products once I have tried them all out)
The first product is a scrub type product, to feel it's like a very thin scrub, but application wise, it's surprisingly smooth!
The next product looks like a mask, but it's probably the most unique product I have ever used. It brings your spots to the surface! And I can tell you it works, VERY well! It isn't the best consistency, but it does the job and it is a definite product worth paying for.
As well as...

SCENE: 7:06am in the Shermer High School Library.
It wasn't just a film, it was a lesson. The Breakfast club teaches you how five students with nothing in common at 7:06am, changed by 4pm, where the five students not only became friends but understood the world they live in.
John Bender, a recluse with his family, never excepted, doesn't understand anything going on around him...well he doesn't really care about anyone else. He teaches everyone that there is more to his 'criminal' self, he's just a boy stuck.
Andrew Clark, a wrestler, pushed to be the star, pushed to be a man, ruins someone else to make his father proud, a father who's only goal is to make his son look good. He teaches everyone that even the coolest kid feels pain and disappointment.
Brian Johnson, academic, needs all straight A's, his mum doesn't understand the pressure, doesn't get that one A, misunderstood. He teaches everyone that even the brainiest kids can fail, even the brainiest kids can want to quit for good.
Allison Reynolds, seen to everyone as crazy, the weird girl who doesn't talk, she wants to run away, she's given up on life as a whole. She teaches everyone that she is weird, and that's ok, but all she wants is to be excepted.
Claire Standish, Shermer High wouldn't run without her, everything she wants- she gets, she can't be seen to fail, she must succeed, setting trends, setting her own rules. She teaches everyone that even the most glamourous of them all suffers.
Virginity is the most asked question of all, "have you done it?" "haven't you done it?.
As Allison says, "Well, if you say you haven't, you're a prude. If you say you have you're a slut. It's a trap. You want to but you can't, and when you do you wish you didn't, right?"
Bender escapes the library to get marijuana out of his locker, only to find the five of them get stoned. This leads to them to be freely speaking, revealing their deepest secrets. Andrew hates his father, Bender has come from an abusive household, John has attempted suicide, Allison is a compulsive liar and Claire, she's a virgin.
From 7:06am they all despised each other.
By Bender commenting on Claire's weight. And everyone making fun of Brian been involved in academic clubs- all of their individual flaws vanish and become a distant memory.
Claire, the girl who cannot stop making her status higher decides to give Allison a makeover.
They bonded. They understood each other. They listened to each other. When the principal asked them to write an essay about who they were, non of them knew, non of them knew at the end of the eight hour period of been in detention. They are only just at the beginning of finding who they are, but they all had status at Helmer High, and THAT, is who they are...
Brian wrote a little something ...
